Essential Oils For Better Sleep

Good health can never be without quality sleep, and this is why you need to sleep for at least 8 hours as an adult. How often have you heard this or related sentiments? But, do you actually stick to this advice? My bet is that you like many other people hardly get a wink of sleep and if you do you keep turning in bed throughout the night. This is due to the hectic lifestyle-watching over the kids, taking work home, or struggling to make ends meet. But, wouldn’t it be super-lovely to sleep like a baby or a king? Well, you can.  These essential oils help:

Lavender Essential Oil

It’s no surprise that lavender constantly features among the top essential oils for sleep. In fact, this oil has been used since ancient times for relaxing. What makes it a top choice is its calming and relaxing effects thanks to the alcohols and esters found in the oil. Simply add a few drops of lavender in an ultrasonic diffuser let the scents put you to sleep, effortlessly.

Chamomile Essential Oil

Chamomile is a crowd favorite when it comes to sleeping peacefully. The oil contains essential compounds that have a sedating, soothing and calming effect. Inhaling the scent will put you to sleep in matter of minutes. There are several types of chamomile in the market; however, Roman chamomile has the strongest effects. In addition to helping you sleep and relaxing your body, it also helps relieve stress and anxiety. A few drops of Roman chamomile in an ultrasonic diffuser is all you need.

Sandalwood Essential Oil

The list of top essential oils that promote quality sleep can never be without sandalwood. Yes, it may be a bit pricier than other options, but, its effectiveness is never in doubt. The high concentration of esters and alcohols not only give out strong and amazing scents but also helps restore equilibrium, bring tranquility and peace. Due to its strong effects you only need to use one or two drops on your pillow or in an ultrasonic diffuser.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

I’ve always loved cedarwood for its deep woodsy and earthly smell that always makes my brain stop processing. Essential Oil Blends to Help You Sleep Better

If you are looking for an all-rounded and better effect you may also combine several oils. To create balance it helps to mix the oils based on their category whether floral, earthly, woodsy, spicy and much more. Some notable choices include the following:

Recipe 1

-3 drops Bergamot

-8 drops Roman Chamomile

-3 drops lavender or Clary sage

Mix all the ingredients in a dark-bottle. Use topically by placing 2 or 3 drops on the pillow, or use an ultrasonic diffuser at least 30 minutes before you go to bed. Besides helping you sleep better, the blend also relaxes and soothes your body as well as mind.

 

Recipe 2

-2 drops lavender

-2 drops tangerine

-2 drops sweet orange

-2 drops chamomile

-1 oz carrier oil

Thoroughly mix all the ingredients in a dark-colored bottle. Add the blend to the bathing water and experience its soothing and calming effect. Alternatively, you can have the essential oil blend massaged all over your body.

It takes time and patience to find the right oil that works for you. Maybe you love the woodsy scent from sandalwood, pine or cedarwood, Floral scent from Jasmine, Chamomile, Rosemary, or Minty scents from Spearmint, Bergamot, and Peppermint. Other scents include Earthy, Herbaceous, Spicy, Citrus, Oriental, and Medicinal. The right choice should send you to dreamland faster making you sleep better.
